7. Burning, tingling, or numb feet
This one is especially relevant when alcohol is part of the story. Long-term heavy drinking can damage nerves and cause pain, burning, numbness, tingling, and weakness in the feet or ankles, while also being a major cause of liver disease. This does not happen in every liver condition, but it can overlap in alcohol-related cases.
8. Trouble walking or feeling unsteady
British Liver Trust lists staggering when walking or falling more often among leg, ankle, and foot-related symptoms of liver disease. In advanced disease, weakness, cramps, nerve problems, or confusion can all contribute to poor balance.
9. Easy bruising around the feet or ankles
Bruising more easily is a recognized symptom of liver disease because the liver helps make proteins involved in blood clotting. If you are noticing unexplained bruises on your feet, ankles, or legs, especially together with swelling or itching, it is worth taking seriously.
10. Cuts on the feet that seem to bleed more than usual
