I Opened My Pizza Box and Froze—What Were Those Strange Brown Lumps on Top?
It was supposed to be one of those easy, relaxing evenings.
After a long day at work, the last thing I wanted to do was cook. Like millions of people do every week, I grabbed my phone, opened a food delivery app, and ordered a simple cheese pizza from a local restaurant. It wasn't anything fancy—just comfort food after a busy day.
About thirty minutes later, the doorbell rang.
The delivery driver handed me the familiar cardboard box, wished me a pleasant evening, and drove away. Everything seemed perfectly normal. I carried the pizza into the kitchen, grabbed a cold drink, and prepared to enjoy dinner.
But the moment I lifted the lid, I stopped in my tracks.
Instead of seeing the perfectly melted cheese I expected, I was greeted by something that looked completely out of place.
Scattered across the pizza were several odd-looking brown lumps.
They weren't sliced like pepperoni.
They weren't round like meatballs.
They weren't shaped like mushrooms or sausage crumbles.
Instead, they looked almost identical to small potatoes.
Or perhaps oddly shaped rocks.
Some even joked they resembled tiny baked potatoes sitting on top of the cheese.
At first glance, they certainly didn't look appetizing.
My appetite disappeared instantly.
I stared at the pizza for several minutes, trying to figure out what I was looking at.
Had the restaurant accidentally dropped something onto the pizza?
Were they some kind of unusual topping?
Could it be spoiled food?
Or worse?
