Who really was Nostradamus?
Michel de Nostredame, known as Nostradamus, was born in France in 1503. He was a doctor, astrologer and scholar of the mystical traditions of his time. His most famous writings appear in the book The Prophecies, published in 1555.
Due to the religious and political context of the sixteenth century, Nostradamus wrote his visions in a deliberately cryptic manner. He mixed different languages, used astrological symbols and complex metaphors to hide the true meaning of his texts.
This meant that for more than 400 years his quatrains have been interpreted in multiple ways. Many believe that some of them described events such as wars, changes in power or social transformations.
